Mike Bodamer
Co-Founder, Director of IT
Mike has a strong background with over 25 years in every facet of IT, from technical support to pioneering the largest IT firm on the Island of Abaco in The Bahamas. Beekeeping for Mike started in 2016 after receiving a beehive kit as a present. Always having a love for the concept of being more self-sustaining, he dove right in and never looked back. Seeing a need for honest and reliable distribution of beekeeping supplies, he formed Beeyond Honey Apiaries & Supplies where he does just that. His entrepreneurial spirit is what pushes him to achieve. Under his leadership at his "day job", he transformed a struggling IT consulting arm by not only making it profitable, but growing it over 500% in less than 5 years.
That burning desire to constantly push the boundaries has lead him to become heavily involved in the beekeeping community by being an officer of the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association, being a life member of the LVBA, PA State Beekeepers Association, and also the Eastern Apicultural Society. He also works with the Penn State Ag Extension along with Dr. Robyn Underwood, assisting with her current projects.
A few years ago Mike was invited by his good friend and beekeeping mentor, Paul Snellen, to come along on the tour to learn about Kenyan beekeepers. This event changed his life, instantly wanting to do whatever he could to assist.
Currently you can find him, in his spare time, pursuing both the Cornell Master Beekeeper and also the EAS Certified Master Beekeeper certifications, managing his homestead of nearly 6 acres where he researches various aspects of beekeeping and farming. As Director of Innovation and Technology for BEE in Kenya, Mike hopes to bring his keen eye for problem solving to rural Kenya and help to solve some of the challenges they face.
